Frequently Asked Questions

bullet

Q. Can I tan naked?
A. Yes. But remember your skin has memory. The parts of your body that have previously been exposed to the sun can tolerate more exposure. We recommend removing your underwear/bathing suit halfway through your session and progressively exposing your entire body for more with each subsequent visit.

bullet

Q. Do I have to wear eye wear?
A. Yes. A tan is created by UV rays penetrating the upper layers of your skin. The skin of the eyelid
is the thinnest in your body. The light passing through will cause irreparable damage with long term UV exposure

bullet

Q. Do indoor tanning lotions/accelerators really work?

         A. Yes. Accelerators stimulate melanin’s rise to the surface of your skin. As melanin encounters UV

light, it turns brown. The more melanin on the surface, the deeper the tan. Accelerators also keep

the skin moist thus minimizing flaking.

bullet

Q. Can I use outdoor tanning lotions in the beds?

          A. No, baby oil and any other outdoor products are prohibited!!  Any product with a mineral oil base

will discolor the acrylic surface and, due to their need to be waterproof, are not designed for easy

         clean-up and sanitizing.

bullet

Q. Will I be tan after the first session?

         A. Not necessarily. The skin needs a few sessions to gradually develop the self defense

mechanism known as a tan. This process cannot be sped up. Your tan will develop within 3-5

sessions. Use a sticker provided by our salon to see the difference.

bullet

Q. Does the bed stop automatically?

         A. Yes, the timers for the bed are controlled by the computer. The bed will stop at the correct

time agreed upon by you and the professional on duty.

bullet

Q. How many times do I have to come to get a tan?

         A. We recommend an exposure schedule of 4-5 times per week for the first two weeks to develop

your base tan, and 2-3 times a week to maintain it.

How to Use Tanning Products

bullet

Q. How Much Tanning Product Should I Use Before Tanning?

           A. Everyone is different. The larger your body, the more you will use per session.  The key is to get a

good thick covering of Moisturization, Magnification, and Skin Conditioning ingredients onto your skin.

bullet

Q. Some Tanning Lotions Are Thick and Do Not Rub In Quickly: What Should I Do?
A. The more moisturization a lotion has, the thicker it will be.  If all of the lotion is not rubbed in completely, within a few moments the heat of the bed will cause the lotion to absorb into your skin.

bullet

Q. When Should I Apply Tanning Lotion?
A. The best time for tanners to apply their lotion is immediately before their tanning session for the

        best magnification properties.

bullet

Q. Should I use an After Exposure Tanning Product between tanning sessions?
A. Absolutely!  Experts indicate that the body is “tanning” for up to 48 hours after your tanning time.

Using an After Exposure Tanning product, like Continuous, daily will replenish the moisture level in
your skin.  You may also use your indoor tanning lotion (non-tingle formula) as a moisturizer.

Apply daily to keep your skin soft and supple, or as often as possible to any area that may need extra
         moisturization.
